Portugal joins the EUIPO’s revolutionary Blockchain initiative

 In Uncategorized

On July 31, 2023, the National Institute of Industrial Property of Portugal (INPI) joined the IP Registers in Blockchain.

By joining the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the national offices of Malta, Italy, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland, Portugal can now register trademarks, designs and models using blockchain technology.

This new platform on the blockchain, which INPI is now part of, creates a safe exchange of data service between organizations and two online data EUIPO repositories. This decentralized platform is responsible for six million trademark registrations up until today.
