Portuguese minimum wage increase 2026
The Portuguese Government has approved an increase in the national minimum wage from 870 euros to 920 euros for the year 2026.
This adjustment takes effect on 1 January 2026.
The increase fulfills a tripartite income agreement between the Government, trade unions and employer representatives, which envisages annual €50 increases in the minimum wage through 2028.
This statutory minimum will take precedence over any previously agreed lower contractual wages once in force.
