Cryptoassets Law Guide 2026

 In Uncategorized

GFDL Advogados is pleased to share that our team has authored the Portugal chapter of the Law Over Borders: Cryptoassets Law Guide, published by the Global Legal Post.

The guide maps how cryptoasset regulation is developing across 15 jurisdictions — from licensing and custody to AML, taxation, enforcement, DAOs, and DeFi. The picture that emerges is one of increasing regulatory sophistication, but also persistent fragmentation. Jurisdictions are making deliberate choices about where to position themselves, and those choices have real consequences for how businesses structure their operations.

The Portugal chapter covers the domestic regulatory framework as it stands today: CASP licensing, MiCA implementation, AML obligations, tax treatment, and the evolving supervisory landscape under Banco de Portugal and the CMVM.

The Guide is available here.
