Compensation subsidy for minimum wage increase – 2021

The Portuguese Government increased the Portuguese minimum wage to EUR 665 in January 2022.

For this reason, a lump sum cash subsidy is available for employers with employees impacted by the change.

The subsidy amount is set at EUR 84,50 per employee earning up to EUR 632 and 42,25 per employee earning up to EUR 665 in December 2020.

Subsidies are to be paid by IAPMEI (Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (IAPMEI) or by the Portuguese Tourism Institution. Companies must apply online (IAPMEI or PTI) for this benefit until June 25th, 2021.
