Porto Jewish Community resumes certificate issuance

On April 17th, 2023 (Yom Hashoah), the Jewish Community of Porto announced that it will resume the analysis of the Sephardic origins of all applicants that previously applied for Portuguese citizenship on or before September 1st 2022, and were unable to obtain a certificate.

The Jewish Community of Porto halted its assistance in issuing Sephardic Jewish ancestry certificates due to the Community’s reputation being harmed in connection to ongoing criminal investigations.
